Expo 2024 Chengdu will be held from April 26 to October 28. The Main Venue is located in the Jiangxi River Ecological Corridor in Chengdu Eastern New Area, with four thematic Sub-venues simultaneously planned: Wenjiang Sichuan Penjing Sub-venue, Pidu Flower Industry Sub-venue, Xinjin Modern Agriculture Sub-venue, and Qionglai Biodiversity Conservation Sub-venue. The event features 113 gardens in total, with participating cities covering all five continents across the globe, setting a record in the total number of gardens, the number of international gardens, and the number of gardens of industry associations and enterprises in the history of Category B International Horticultural Exhibitions.

Station One
Jinyun Pavilion
As the highest building in Chengdu Eastern New Area Main Venue with a total height of 46 meters, Jinyun Pavilion fully displays its grandeur standing on the rising terrain. Looking far into the Main Venue from Jinyun Pavilion, one will find the pavilion surrounded by the Chinese Horticulture Zone that has already revealed the ambience of gardens. Looking a little further away, one can have a panoramic view of the bustling cityscape and hundreds of miles of flourishing mountains and forests of the Longquan Mountain. Jinyun Pavilion, with its cluster of towers and pavilions, will form a cultural experience area of multiple functions, such as the function of a rest teahouse, a site for appreciating the scenery, and a place for savoring special food. Furthermore, various kinds of flowers and trees, such as hibiscus flowers and blue jacarandas, will be planted within the range of 100 meters around the pavilion, forming a“sea of flowers”with Jinyun Pavilion at the center.
Station Two
Comprehensive Service Pavilion
The Comprehensive Service Pavilion, located on the southeast side of the Main Venue, is the gate that represents the public image of the Main Venue. As described in a poem, “hibiscus flowers bloom in the four gates of Chengdu, so Chengdu was called the Hibiscus City. ”The Comprehensive Service Pavilion fully displays the beauty of blooming hibiscus flowers in its geographical design, while the umbrella-shaped construction at the center of the pavilion draws on the spatial design of watchtowers of the Han Dynasty. By combining the“future”style with its design, the pavilion shows Chengdu’s cultural heritage where modernity and antiquity intertwine with each other. The perfect integration of“hibiscus flowers”and“Sichuan watchtowers of the Han Dynasty”reveals the long rich history and profound cultural heritage of Ba and Shu areas. In addition, the three umbrella-shaped sunshade structures outside the pavilion are all equipped with rainwater collection devices that store the rainwater in the underground storage for plant irrigation in the Main Venue.
Station Three
Tianfu Eye Ferris Wheel
The 88-meter-high Tianfu Eye Ferris Wheel is supported by a herringbone structure, giving an impression of majesty like a large winding dragon. The wheel is a full cable structure that consists of roller paths and steel cables, conveying a sense of science and technology and a sense of power. After the Expo 2024 Chengdu opens, the wheel will display the splendid view of blooming hibiscus flowers in the large screen at the center of the wheel. Moreover, it will light up the Main Venue at night with rich lights and colors of an electronic firework show by emitting and changing its colorful lights, putting on a gorgeous interactive performance.
